What is this reaction time business all about you might ask? Simple! What may surprise people new to drag racing is the time for a vehicle’s pass does not start on the flash of green light. It actually starts when the car crosses the start line beams and that triggers the timers for the run down the drag strip.Reaction time is all about how quickly you move the car off the line, upon the flash of the green light – the time (usually measured in fractions of a second) is usually described as ‘reaction time’. The lower the reaction time, the better it is – without red-lighting of course (going before the green)! Every Hi Tec Oils Race for Real Wednesday, the three best vehicles to react off the start line (the lower that reaction time the better!) gets a split of $600. First receives $300, second $200 and third best off the line receives $100. You see, it doesn’t matter how fast or slow your vehicle is... it’s all about your reaction time and getting off the line as the green light flashes on! Usually the reaction time competition for the top three will close off at 9.00pm. In addition to this we also have 'Perfect Light Jackpot'. Basically a perfect light is a .000 reaction time. In other words, your vehicle departs precisely on the exact flash of the green light! Each week that the perfect light does not get achieved it jackpots to the next and so on. It is not unusual to see some lucky racer take home over $2000 on a occastions!!! So what are you waiting for get down to Sydney Dragway and get amongst the cash!
