19 OCT 2011 - Pioneer Awards at next months Rocket Open Day

October 18, 2011 - The response to the Pioneer Awards at next months Rocket Open Day and the Retro Drags at Sydney Dragway has gained a lot of MPH. Dragster Australia have come on board as the Official Sponsor of the whole award process allowing the production of Stainless Steel plaques to be affixed to the Control Tower honouring the Pioneer recipients.
The off track activity has also hopped up with Rod Richardson having the original Camel Filter VW that Pioneer recipient Peter Keegan campaigned on display during the weekend. This is the original complete car, with restoration nearly finished.
Andrew Hurst will have his AA/FA on display as well, which is a tribute to the High Steppin Fuel Altereds of yesteryear. This is a brand new piece of machinery and while very close to completion will add a lot of flavour to the Nitro movement.
The racing fan is also invited to attend the Pioneer Awards on the Saturday night after the Rocket Open Day where the ANFA will be hosting a sausage sizzle, just bring your own beverages. You can not only see the display cars, but actually get to meet the Pioneer Awards recipients in person and grab a cherished picture or have a memento signed by these distinguished people.
The honorees again are;
Eddie Thomas
Bob Dunn
Cowin & Johns
Peter Keegan
Brian Keegan
David Cook
Unfortunately Bob Dunn will be out of the country in November, so his award will be presented at next years Pioneer Awards.
Saturday 19th Rocket Open Day 8.30am till 3pm, the Pioneer Awards from 6pm and then the Retro Drags on the Sunday 20th at Sydney Dragway.
