12 DEC 2011 - Wet n Wild Sunday Streeter
What started out as a beautiful day turned out to be a wet n wild affair as another infamous summer storm lashed Sydney Dragway putting an end to a great day of off street Drag Racing action.
Inspite of the weather the racers that turned up got plenty of runs in before we had to call a halt to precedings.
![]() Regular Comp racer Lyle Gilmore brought his Sunday driver out for a run and got the 12 second time slip he was looking for out of the 455 cube Mercury Cyclone with a 12.779 @ 106.78 mph (172 km/h)! |
![]() Paul Graber found the traction to his liking on his R1 running into the 10s at over 130 mph (210 km/h)!!! |
|
|
![]() Rose Merrett had her Bare Metal Beetle on track and got into the 13s with a 13.976 @ 97.69 mph (157 km/h) |
![]() Peter Christodoulou blasted a very impressive 11.174 @ 127.33 mph (205 km/h) out of his R35 Skyline! |
![]() Regular Sydney Dragway commentator Mark Thomas brought the cummunity GTR out for a play and ran a best of 10.180 @ 139.80 mph (225 km/h) ... ... Fellow commentator Paul Galvin had the controls at the Full Throttle Friday a few days before and went 10.088 @ only 135.46 mph so I guess one has ET bragging rights and the other has the speed!!! |
![]() Allan Franks tough 350 Chev powered Rodeo ran a best of 11.381 @ 119.82 mph (193 km/h) this time around. |
![]() Mark Walmsley usually runs his very tough and very neat '56 F100 in the Super Street Bracket here at Sydney Dragway but today he decided to give his 1000cc Ninja a squirt and ran a best of 10.396 @ 137.76 mph (222 km/h) |
![]() As we said the start the day started off beautiful and then in the afternoon the skies looked very ominous indeed ... |
![]() ... and then the inevitable happened ans the skies opened up ... |
![]() ... and it bucketed down bringing the day to an early close however there was still a lot of smiling faces with everyone getting a heap of runs down the track! |
